Cord Locks

Just purchased some from JoAnn fabrics, they cost $2.49 for a package of 2.

I hated to pay that much but I can not find them anywhere else locally. They had several types both in clear and black and they seem to hold good on my UQ.

May not be your cup o' grog, oldgringo, but for my purposes, a small piece of stiff (but flexible) material with two holes in it makes a simple, ultralight cord clock. Traditionally, these have been made of leather but the design works well with synthetic materials too (Hypalon, &c.).

Held in a U-shape, the cord runs easily, but binds when released as the material returns to a flatter form.

When I do paracord drawstrings in my stuffsacks and things, I do a simple 4 lead, 3 bight Turk's Head Knot over the 2 ends, and that works quite well.

I have had good luck with the cord locks I get from questoutfitters - I either get the mini-mini ones (work with 3/32 cord) or I get the more usual size of Primalock in either black or bright yellow! I have had no problems with either of these.

After reading this thread and looking at some my own different types of cord locks, my opinion is that what makes a guilty cord lock is the spring Vs. size of cord your using it on.

I have some cord locks both small and large that are both good and bad, I also have some that get used more then others and you can tell that the spring has lost some of its spring over time and use.
