Great EBay trick: Misspell the name of the product you are looking for. It is a sad state of affairs, but most folks can't spell worth a s#@t! The misspelled items don't get viewed nearly as much and can often be purchased cheap! Plus, it makes me feel smart.

I haven't checked in a while, but I found a 30 lb. postal scale on permanent auction on Ebay a couple months ago.

If you have a post office near you, go check it out - most of them have automated package centers in their front lobbies now. Since the lobbies are 24 hours, you can go late at night and weigh as much stuff as you want - and nobody's there to hassle you.

I got a postal scal from ebay for around $20. There are lots of them for sale, at least when I looked. So don't worry if you miss a couple. I would get one that has .1 oz precision to it. That makes weighing out down for a quilt if you make one a lot better than measuring in .5 increments.

I ordered a dehydrator retail. I love it. If you can, try to get one with the heating element in the back with try that slide in horizontally. It is supposed to dry more even. I still rotate the trays in mine. It probibly would dry anyways, this just makes it faster. Dried beef stew last night.

    Which dehydrator do you have?

I'll see if I can swing by the Post Office sometime soon, in the meantime.

I wish there were directions somewhere for a bug bivy. I dont sew and am planning to have someone make me one. They sound fairly simple but it would be nice to have it written down. I'm starting to really believe that a longer homemade hammock is more comfortable and a bug bivy would be icing on the cake.

I just generally went with HE's idea (http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=978 ). I bought some noseeum and a zipper from Quest Outfitters, thread from Ed, and started making it. I'm not sure I could even write down all the steps I took at this point. It was still a "work in progress" up until about 9:00pm tonight... so I'm saying look at HE's bivvy, and look at Just Jeff's Hammock sock (on his site under DIY stuff) too for some ideas. Good luck!

No. It dries to kind of a flakey texture.
