What makes this hang different?
Each year, volunteers from throughout the upper Midwest gather at events across Wisconsin to build the Ice Age Trail, spend some time outside and connect with each other. We are joining one of the building weekend events. It is your opportunity to give back to this 1,100 mile trail maintained mainly by volunteers.
A quick synopsis for our weekend is we are building 200-300 feet of new boardwalk at the Clover Valley Segment. They are looking to draw volunteers 10-20 folks a day for the build. A base camp will set up nearby, location is TBD.
Cost: There is no cost and meals are provided on Saturday by the IATA. Everyone will need to pitch in for meal prep for the Friday group and our Saturday meals. We will potluck for the Friday dinner and Sunday breakfast. The IATA will have a camp kitchen set up with stoves, pots and pans, utensils, wash station, etc.
Our Saturday will look like this:
6:45 – 7:15 – Breakfast
7:45 – 8 - Head out to the work site
Noon – Lunch in the field
4:30ish – Pack up and head back to camp
6:30 – Dinner
There will be a separate on-line registration for this event with the IATA. Dave Caliebe, a Trail Program Specialist, will pass along that info when it’s ready (probably end of January)
This build runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday. We will only be working on Saturday, but if you desire to work on Thursday or Friday also, just indicated that on the IATA registration. Again, there is no cost and they provide the meals on days you work.
