I have no idea how i missed this thank you. I knew it would be below zero but -7 and falling heck it may get down to -15 or more that is out of my range. I will have to wait till this cold snap passes.

you learn alot hanging in the winter...
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold
Very COOL reports (api) Thank youse Tom
REPORT !
I went to bed @ 11p.m. I wore everything I stated in my first post except I did double layer my wool socks. My head gear was light I only wore a cotton knit beannie with a thin balaclava under I was worried about this at first but it proved to be enough. It was 19deg. when I crawled in the hammock the wind was next to 0 and stayed that way all night. The settle in perdiod was short and I got warm very quick. I cant say enough god things about the mwuq4 and the old rag quilt top notch equipment. I stayed very very warm all night not even my feet got cold and that was a big bonus. There was a few drafty spots but nothing that was a real big deal mostly when I tried to sleep in a fetal position. This was easily taken care of with a small tuck and then rite back to sleep. This is the first time I have slept in this temps in a hammock but with this combo I would not be afraid to go to 0deg with a full ccf pad I would go lower.
I'm going to sleep in the backyard tonight... 'spose to be 15*F.

Glad the test went well. When you tell people about it they will just look at you and shake their heads thinking you are crazy! This is the first time I have slept in this temps in a hammock but with this combo I would not be afraid to go to 0deg with a full ccf pad I would go lower.
The 1/2 quilt I used is now Dad approved for my 8 yr old. We can go out in Jan - Feb without worrying about her getting cold in her bridge hammock.
Yeah Mac, but 15* is just better in TNI'm going to sleep in the backyard tonight... 'spose to be 15*F.

Thats great to hear I know my daughter is itching to go but she is not up for the cold. So where do you think you will be going next?
In the winter with the 8 yr old I usually go on some land I have up on the plateau. She gets the experience with a safe bail out plan.
I usually try to go to the Big South Fork in February. We pretty much have the place to ourselves tha time of year. We could work up a HF trip if anyone is interested. It would be a hiking trip away from the cars but does not have to be big miles.
How old is your daughter? We could work up a kid's trip anytime.
My oldest is 15 I have two but one wont even think of going with me. My 15yo has done all kinds of outdoors activities but is just now getting into backpacking. I think it is a great idea either way a kids trip or a HF Big South fork trip. I haven't walked there yet. I have always seemed to pass it over but love the trip reports i read about it.
