This thread is very old, but hopfully someone is still listening. If i created dynaglide whoopies that attatch to soft shackles made of 7/64 amsteel would it cause some that cutting because of the size difference? Itd be dyneema on dyneema, and i could use some of that tubing, but it seems as though the weight (im about 180) on the frail tubing would just eat right through. Also, my channels have continuous loops of the same amsteel.

I don't like attaching line to line, no matter what the diameter. That's because under load, the diameter is going to be significantly compressed. Then the radius that one line has to negotiates around the other becomes tiny. The major factor that makes ropes fail at knots is the tight radii involved. I strongly recommend going to www.dutchwaregear.com and get his featherweight titanium hardware to make your connections. The lines cannot compress the hardware and therefore you won't be dealing with dangerously small radii.

By the way, I've been hanging off Dynaglide for years. Love it.

What mad777 said is true about the tight bends. However, Grizz had a system like this he was calling the HFDHS using all amsteel. He tied a whipping knot slider for the purpose of what you intend to use plastic tubing. I imagine the whipping knot would hold up better and only needs tied once.

Will it work with dynaglide? Dunno. I would say try it but hang low.

i gave up on the dynaglide whoopies. i really like the feel of it, but i just can't trust it to not eat through, especially when i'm already setup with amsteel whoopies. my suspension setup runs as follows: 12' tree straps (one sewn loop), aluminium toggle (3"), soft shackle, 24' whoopie (7/64 amsteel), C.A.M.P. USA nano 23 carabiner, continuous loop (7/64 amsteel) lark's headed to/in the end channel. so much distance covered with the tree straps to the toggle and then again with the whoopies, the whoopies are mostly for 'just in case' the trees are really thick or far. almost didn't have enough strap with the 4' so invested in the 12' AFTER i already had the whoopies. not mad about it, neither is enough weight to really want to leave at home. im all about preparedness.
