I store all my down at home in cotton pillow cases laid out flat as I can on the top shelf of a closet. When I remove them I usually toss the down in my dryer on no heat with a couple of tennis balls. Not sure I need to "fluff" them up but.................

My first king size down comfortable was stored in 2 completely sealed black garbage bags due to ignorance. It lasted fine, but only stored when dry. If was always aired out in a no-heat dryer for its 10 years. My replacement comes with a breathable bag.

In humid conditions, hanging it like (Shug), but in a drafty area might be a good idea. Silnylon might still let some moisture in, but airing out too slowly, in turn, causing mold.

I found sturdy garbage bag to be a problem. My daughter put our hammock in one. Four days later when we were ready to Hang again, the quilts STANK ro high heaven. No mold, no dampness, the stink was from the garbage bag, whatever mix of chemicals used in the mfg. of the bags.

P.S. The bags were used to protect the quilts wgile we were finishing up replacing the roof.and sheet rock. I will never put anything I want to use again in black trash bags.

I make 'em out of worn sheets or thrift store bed sheets. Easy sew up w/draw string or cord channel. Store bought muslin or cotton canvas works great too more ($).
