20 degree under quilt questions. UGQ Zepplin or HG Incubator?

I'm looking for a 20 degree under quilt. I'd like to know if anyone has a 48" Zepplin and what you think of the extra width. I'm a shorter, wider guy (5'5" 200lbs) and was thinking the 48" wide 66" long Zepplin might be a perfect fit. However, the price is over 20% higher than a 44" wide Incubator with the same over stuff. I'd sure appreciate any thoughts or recommendations before I spend this much money. I'm open to any other bottom quilt suggestions as well. Thanks again.

I can not recommend UGQ enough. I don't have one, but have laid in a 66" and at 2.5" taller than you, it just fit head to toe. I opted to get a few more inches for my 0˚F Zepplin for oozing room, so you should be fine with the 66". The workmanship is impeccable.

I have a 30 degree incubator and my buddy has the 20 degree. We love them and recommend them.

Can't really go wrong with any of the cottage vendors. I know this doesn't help the search, but there isn't an easy answer.

I have a 20* incubator and love it. enough to also get their 0* version. i have no experience with UGQ quilts though. only their tarps, which are exceptionally well built. i can say i see just as many of the ugq quilts as i do hammock gear when going to group hangs. i'm thinking you can't go wrong either way. oh, that anatomical shape of the hammock gear quilt seems to work though. i feel warmth from head to toe, even behind the knees where the quilt "lifts" to hug you with it's downy goodness.

Both are great products. The width question is one I had when looking at underquilts. I have broad shoulders and was concerned about coverage. I purchased a HG Phoenix at 45" wide and it has more than adequate coverage. I have no doubt for me the HG Incubator at 44" wide or the 44" wide UGQ Zeppelin would work just as well for coverage. I would recommend you lay in your hammock and have someone help you with a tape measure from underneath the hammock. Hold one end to your outside shoulder and see how far 44" then 48" covers to your other shoulder. Use a liberal curve in the tape measure to allow for loft. Some prefer the extra coverage, but for me it would be wasted. I do use a clip on the outside shoulder attached to the hammock body to keep the UQ from slipping off my shoulder. Good luck.

Btw, HG can add an extra 5" baffle taking an incubator to 49" wide. I can't remember the additional cost, but you can contact them to compare with UGQ.

Just to throw my 2 cents in, I have both UGQ quilts and HG quilts and you can't go wrong with either. All my UQs are the standard width (although I do get my TQs wide) - I'm 6'4", 235lbs, although for what its worth I was closer to 290 when I bought my first quilts.

I have the HG Incubator in both 20* and 0* and they have become my favorite quilts.

I have the Incubator 20* and have no issues worth it. I would highly recommend it. Cheers!
