Cat cut dimension question

I created a 7.5' long 3" cat cut template for the bottom of my tarp. I used the same template for the sides, which are shorter, using the middle section of the template.

In order to have the template align with the side edges of the tarp I needed to move it backwards, resulting in about a 1.5" cat cut on the sides. Will this be enough to help assure a taut tarp?

I'd say you are good then, as I recall that is very low stretch.
