A very sweet knife at that...
I just thinned out my "collection" to only knives that I actually use regularly... I'm down to a total of only 15 blades from Swamp Rat, Scrapyard, and Busse . We won't talk about how many I have from other companies - I haven't counted
I doubt I would bring more than 5 or 6 of those if I make it to trail days.
I'd bring some of the Pappy, but I think that bottle will be long empty by the time trail days rolls around. I'm trying to find some of the 12 or 15 year expression - almost as tasty, and much more reasonably priced.
Hiker trash doing Sweet Tea and Pappy will probably fit right into TD activities. Plenty of time to recoup in the rainy times which will be in great supply while parked in a hammock while hanging with some friends just off the trail...I would think twice about bringing a very impressionable teen-ager to this event, especially since it lasts for way more than one evening. But for adult hiker trash types it sure do sound like a fun time. This olde' hippie is in! oh yeah!

If you're going... Be prepared for big changes. Camping area (Tent City) is off limits now. Parking is severely limited. Go here:
<http://www.traildays.us/lodging.html>
Page down - study map - Be happy you known how to use a hammock! With all the rain & snow it's gonna be all mud, mud, and more mud back there!
Hike in, share rides. Parking is nuts!

I never drink water. I'm afraid it will become habit-forming.
Looks like I can't go after all... IronK graduates that weekend!

Some of you are hiking into Damascus for T-Days.
Happy Camper will be riding down with me and I am dropping her for the hike-in around Mt. Rogers.
Wondering how to hook-up in Damascus...? Is there an agreed upon booth/vendor where we can leave notes? Messages left at Dot's always disappear...<g>...

Hiking in from Hampton TN! Let me check, but I think I kno where we can leave messages!
Get busy living, or get busy dying.
Great! IIRC, I did find a post here somewhere about using the ATC tent/booth...? If that doesn't work and/or you don't find a place...
May I suggest the LEKI booth...? The *Vendors* set-up along the Trail sorta "downtown" Damascus. HOWEVER, the manufacturers reps will be setting up near the *new* camping area. The reps do free repairs for thru-hikers (and others) and are not allowed to sell anything in that area.
I suggest this because it's a bit closer to the camping area and because I will be helping the LEKI rep. I "could" have a clipboard hanging in the booth marked for HF folks. Just a suggestion....?
If you haven't seen this <http://www.traildays.us/camping.html>
Take a look at the map and description of the camping area. In the BLUE box is where the LEKI booth will be behind the Bingo Hall. Camping is in the YELLOW box.
Wherever is fine with me. Just think it would be useful and nice to have a spot where we can hook up.

Checking the trail days web site today I see the vendors list has changed from a couple of weeks ago.
http://www.traildays.us/vendors.html
Previously WB and OES were on the list, I know WBG had already posted he wouldn't be there as planned, but now Brian / OES appears to be out too.
Speer Hammocks is not listed, but Ed's new partner TTTG is now listed.
Sweet Springs Hammocks, who was previously listed, was there last year and mentioned by some folks, has also dropped off the list.
ENO, Grand Truk, HH, JRB - are all still on the list.
Gossamer Gear is back though - I received a Mariposa Plus pack for Christmas two years ago. Grant was just great, two changes of size of pack to get the correct fit. Followed by an offer to exchange that for one of the new design with the curved stays , no additional charge. Sixmoondesigns off the list too.
Changes due I suppose to the other parts of our lives and/or the economy or lack thereof.

Most likely due to the fact that Trail Days is going to be a mess this year, and many Thrus are avoiding it, or started so late that they won't be up that far in time.
There are still quite a few people that refuse to ever return, after they realized laws are still laws during Trail Days.
I've got a bachelor party to go to Saturday night, so I'll only be in Damascus Friday night and then hit the vendors Saturday Morning.
Mostly the parking fiasco, and the lack of room for tent city this year is going to make it interesting to say the least.
Not the guy to ask for Directions.
