Updating grid. I like the RRG/Shawnee ideas. I had to abort RRG last year and I'm itchin' to try again. With the FBH on the 4th, I won't be available to go until the 18th or the more likely the 25th. The biggest caveat would be a trip to AZ soon, dates dependent on flight costs.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to make any other trips this month besides the FBH in Dayton . . . only 3 more days! See you folks this weekend!

Just got back from Red River Gorge today, great places to hang down there. That said, I'm not sure I can get out of the house for another hang in February. I'll keep an eye on the thread in case I can make anything.

I'm down for the 18th-19th. Was thinking about hitting zaleski site H(3) but if anyone else is down I'm down for anything else.

Back from the Frozen Butt Hang at Germantown Metro Park in Dayton. There was a full house of of 40 souls and a boat load of food. Way more than I need on a hang like that!

Temps were not too bad. I recorded a low of 28°F in the evening and then it got continually warmer through the night. No precipitation foretasted, so I left the tarp in the car and enjoyed a few minutes of stars here and there throughout the night.

Below is the only pic that came out from the hang and the data dump from my temp logger. If anyone else has pics, post 'em! Miami Valley Outfitters had some group pics, but I don't see them posted yet on their pages. If someone finds them, please post!

Update grid for the remainder of February:

exup is looking at Zaleski. I'm out for the 25th. I will be heading to Arizona at the end of the month and hope to get a hang in while I'm visiting family.

Hobo, Good seeing you around the fire briefly. I also registered 28º for the low. Not to frozen but still, alway's good to get out!

I like it when commercial instruments match up! May not qualify as calibrating, but at least it's a consensus! Sorry I we couldn't talk more, but I was wiped out. I actually crawled in the hammock about 7ish. Told myself it was just to check out the setup, but I never left. Hopefully, we'll get a chance to talk again soon.

Happy to say that I survived my first FBH. My goodness the food was incredible! Talk about Dutch Oven heaven . . . wooooo Nellie! The Vulcan stoves were great to see first hand and in action. Menu that I can remember was: Jambalaya with bacon, shrimp, and sausage - pizza pita pockets - deer sausage and rice - beans - mac & cheese - maple and bacon cornbread muffins - gourmet brownies/cookies - fresh breads - BBQ meatballs - beef roast - sloppy joes - blueberry cobbler - "funeral" potatoes - pizzas cooked on a grate over the fire . . . I'm certain there were more, but what a feast!

I couldn't have had a better time and certainly enjoyed everyone that attended. So much fun. And didn't freeze my butt off!

I'll be there next year. FBH Dutch Oven Heaven.jpgFBH Fire.jpgFBH Gathering.jpgFBH Group.jpgFBH Jambalya.jpgFBH Pizza Pockets.jpgFBH Set Up 2.jpgFBH Set Up.jpgFBH Vulcan Stoves.jpgHere are some pictures.
