    Ground Tarp Ideas NEEDED!

I have a few of my own, but I am seeking any and all.

So, I have found myself more than once, in a situation where during rain and storms, the ground under my hammock gets soaked. Often with water running like a stream. (runoff).
This has happened twice in the last 3 years while in the Boundary Waters. If you are familiar with the typical campsites in the Boundary Waters, then you should understand what I am dealing with.

During these rainy times, I often like to hang out under the tarp, but not in the hammock. So I am looking for a ground tarp idea, that would be similar to a typical tent floor (bathtub design). In fact, if I can find a small old tent cheap, maybe something about 7' x 5' ish, I would probably just cut the floor out of it, and use it.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Tyvek with snaps in the four corners. Cheap and easy to do.

Tyvek is what I use and I like it but it's slicker than snot in socks.

Here's a link if you do not want to bother doing it.

Try hanging in the forest duff if you can instead of a bare soil spot. That is an option. Site selection!
Cut sticks to make a pallet.
Why not sit in the hammock?

This is the setup I used last summer in the boundary waters. This is the typical ground situation at the campsites there. During heavy rain, water runs on the ground towards the lake. I have experienced this a few times now.
In the picture, I used a large tarp that we brought in to potentially use for something else. I folded it, to create that bathtub type effect to keep the running ground water from getting on the tarp. I actually used the folded over sections like pockets to put various gear in during the day, when we went out in the canoe.

FYI: All the tie outs you see on the tarp, is due to a day with 40mph constant wind.

Site selection may help. The tyvek will be a little heavier option, but you will puncture any light material eventually. The tyvek is so easily replaced.
