I finally did it. I injected thread through some IX that Mac supplied...
I have (still) been waking up with cold feet around 4am when I hang. I have a KAQ lost river, and have tried a number of ways of keeping my feet warm: socks, fleece booties, CCF leg pad, Reflectix pad, etc.
I really hated using any kind of leg pad as they always end up shifting on me. So I made this:
It's two layers of IX, 36" long, 24" across the top, and 46" wide at the bottom. The bottom layer of IX is 6" wider than the top layer. I formed tubes by sewing the two layers together, adding 1/2" at the top and 1" at the bottom.
Sides are bound with 7/8" Grosgrain.
The top has a small piece of shock cord in it, to gather up to the hammock end. the bottom is unfinished intentionally, as it just lays in my UQ.
Total weight: 3.5oz.
The pics show clothespins holding it up, but I'm going to tie the foot end to the UQ suspension, and use bra hooks to attach the other end to the UQ.
I lay in it for a while, and it was surprisingly warm (48 degrees, wearing nothing but shorts, no cover)... the test will be tomorrow night as I crash out in the back yard.
