Too late! I have always had an aversion for hardware, and will eliminate it if at all possible... then Angrysparrow made me a gram weenie by requesting an UL MMP. There's no going back!

Seriously, it closed up just right, and works fine even without any weight in the pockets. I just have to lengthen the SEEP slit, and add curved ends to the overlap.

I'm trying hard to understand everything I know about this, and coming up empty.

On one hand, Jeff's designs appear to be somewhat loose fitting socks.

On the other, this sock is insulated with a product that depends on contact to function properly.

It would seem that fit is super critical, and that what works for one hammock might very well be an epic fail for another.

Do I have the picture, or am I missing something? Help!

Mine is tighter fitting because I closed the ends and added a SEEP. I adjust the tightness with an adjustable ridgeline, so the bottom insulation is in contact with the UQ.

    got it now?

I was sort of lost with Oldgringo as well. I see and I like
Let me ask this because you may have tried this already.
lets assume you have a double bottom hammock and I sandwich a layer of Insultex between 2 pieces of ripstop hemming all three layers to the outside edges and slide this like a pad within the double bottom -> now we Do have
full contact, Wouldn't this work? Is compression a problem with this material?

OldGringo & PKT, just to emphasize a point...

The Adjustable Ridge Line (ARL) makes possible an Adjustable Hammock Sock (AHS), which makes possible the Insulated Hammock Sock (IHS).

It's all because I started with a Speer IIIA hammock SIIAH), with the Speer Bugnet Adjustable Ridgeline (SBARL). When I thought about how to fit it tightly to the bottom, I realized it was no problem at all. If I had tried to do this on a HH, or any other hammock with a fixed, structural ridge line, it would have been a Custom Hammock Sock (PITA)!
