Question how long do you make the shock cord on the doors of your tarp?

How long do you make the shock cord on the doors of your tarp? what length is the rope for the four corners for that matter I don't remember what i did on previous tarps set ups. I can't remember if I did 4 or 5 feet on my wife's tarp. Her tarp is huge. I like to be able to put the shock cord on the stakes for the tie outs.

I am trying to get two tarps set up and ready for a hang in February..

any advice? trying to maximize my order from DUTCH.

The ones I use are about 17 inches after putting all the knots in them. Here is how I set it up ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omSVh7T9_VI

Don't worry about too much... there are all types of uses for the cord! I would take Backpkrmn advice and start with about 20 inches. I started with two feet because I looped through a buckle system and then back through a micro cord lock with a stop knot in it. The stretch is so great that I am going to have to set up the tarp and cut the length down even more. Just like everything...measure twice and cut once. Except in my case, I keep taking a little more and a little more each time till I get it correct. I have a feeling, each tarp and your set up will require different lengths.

I think it's good to have extra cordage, I always keep a hank or two in my pack. On my tarp I use about two feet on each tie-out.

Exactly, you'll find uses for the extra!

I use quite a good amount. I also like to use trees if i can to create a higher clearance on one side of my tarp. You could also bring extra cord with you incase you need to extend one of the tie outs. Never hurts to have some extra cord with you.

I made my shock cord 1/2 the distance of each door, then put a mitten hook on the end.
