It will be. already touched base with two girlfriends to spend next weekend in the woods. One is a newbie to hanging so we will be able to guide her through the warm issues of hammock hanging in the winter.

I'm contemplating a Dutch hammock with the half bug net so that Sawyer can get in with me at times. For this next weekend, I'm going to make her a fleece jacket or buy her one depending on price. She goes nuts when she sees my pack so I've got to figure out what winter set up will be good for her.

    Annnd here are some pics!

You can see we didn't go too far in. I drove over to the state park but all the back country sites were taken.

I've had my small to medium dog in the hammock with me in the woods behind my house but he is too much in and out. Every little breeze moving bushes makes him throw his ears up and want to go check things out. He just isn't camping material.

The coffee "hootis" is a definite luxury item. It's heavy, doesn't pack well and it's a bit fragile, but it makes UNBELIEVABLE joe. It's actually an espresso maker, and it make tremendous espresso as well. Aren't you just the king of the woods when you bust that out trailside! Highly recommended. It's the GSI Outdoor 4 cup espresso maker.

There's a great Youtube channel called "Far North Bushcraft and Survival" run by a guy in Alaska named Lonnie. He's great to watch; really low key. Here's a video of him making some coffee with the GSI.

And nope, no car. Packed it all in a 50L pack (might be 55) with room to spare. You should see what I can fit in the 75L!

I wonder how it is we have come to this place in our society where art and nature are spoke in terms of what is optional, the pastime and concern of the elite?

She's Adorable! Wish I could take George, but he's 70 lbs. of "See you later!" in the woods.

A coat should do the trick. Good luck!
    I love brindled dogs.

    I sew things on youtube.
I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.

Not sure how far I'll get, but I'll give it a shot. January was taken care of at the NEHHA winter hang. Was my record cold at 4 degrees. Got by by stacking my 20 and 40 degree quilts

Going to hike up to sawyer pond in about 3 weeks which will be my first full winter hike. Can't wait.

I'm going to give it a try. I've got one night so far, and a second in the planning stages.

I'd quote a certain book, but that is not allowed.
