that stuff is probably worth it actually. it's great for making your own stick-on patches out of matching ripstop scrap, just won't work on silnylon. i've made patches for hammocks, down jackets, quilts ect... using the stuff and it works at least as good as the stick on patches you buy at rei. (as far as brands go, c3 is all i've used)

Found the email I got from Ron, dated 11/24/2004...
It's pretty expensive and comes only in long rolls. It's double sides so I can't really roll off a short piece and sell that- it would get all messy trying to restick it to itself. So, I would not suggest it for a one time project. I would just sew the seam and use a little 100% clear silicone caulk on the seam to waterproof.

There is a fabric called "Ultra-sil" that is not quite a pure silnylon, but is used by a number of manufacturers (Sea-To-Summit is a big one). It's silicone coated on one side and some sort of urethane blend on the other - so the seam sealer tapes work on that one side. It's how Sea-To-Summit is doing their sil stuff sacks.

I'm still looking around (albeit, not very hard as of late) for the manufacturer of this material. It peaks my interest.

It looks like this is what Rockywoods is carrying as their Silnylon 1sts, but I have not contacted them yet to confirm this.

According to MLD fabric section they have custom made silnylon. I doubt they are using anything with urethane, but i could be wrong.

I just looked at their description... I think they're using the same material I will have in "Treebark Brown" at the end of this month. It's a proprietary silicone blend coating, not pure silicone. I did a water test with it and it passed admirably - no water bleed through in over 14 hours (one gallon of water suspended in a yard of the fabric). It may not be the exact same (the material I will have is branded as "Skylite") - but boy is it close if it's not.
