    Gear hammock with Blackbird

How are y'all using a gear hammock with the blackbird?

I usually end up hanging it in teardrop fashion from the suspension triangles on one end.

But I'd prefer to figure out a way to hang the gear hammock so that it's accessible from inside the hammock, right outside the zippered opening.

    Any ideas?

Good question. I found it very useful when I had my Hennessy hammock, but since switching to a top entry hammock I had the same issue on what to do with it. Now I still bring it and keep it close by on the ground where I can reach it while sitting in my hammock. It still helps in keeping things organized and protects gear from any water splatters, dirt, etc.

I know Bonsaihiker does a gear hammock outside his hammock (this video) around the 7 minute mark. String runs from one tree and gets staked out to the ground, off center and hangs on a trek pole and a stick. Looks good.

Thanks for the link. I'm just gonna have to try that idea out.

    I've thought about doing that.
And I've considered that if I did a ridgeline that ran under the tarp . . . I could hang it from that . . . directly above the hammock.

I guess with a grossgrain loop on the body of the hammock I could go from that to the suspension. But I don't know how to sew well. I'd want someone proficient to do that.

I was wondering about just the opposite, hanging it underneath the hammock, assuming of course that you hang high enough. It is also possible that you could hang it underneath (or nearly level), but then pull it off center by guying out to a tarp stake.
