    West coast solar eclipse thread

Is there one yet. Can we have a solar ec lisp see discussion about a group hang somewhere along the line in the west? Would love to join an outing, or I'm just going drive the monocycle somewhere and camp

I have the week and weekend off proceeding the 21st of August. I'll check when I return to work about the following Monday & Tuesday. I should be down for a few nights/days.

Trees are going to be hard to find. Every place around me is booked including rv parks. Most city parks are even charging I heard. My wife and I are considering rent the house and camper out for the week just how much things are going for is crazy. There are some places around me I can look into if individuals are interested.

Depending on whether I am in the Snowy Range or not at the time, I will probably just be making the short drive to Casper to see it. I don't plan on staying in town but might use the time to catch up with friends.

I have been thinking about finding a spot and hosting a group thing. I am sure anywhere that is not super hard to get to will be packed with people but it would be fun to pick a peak to hike up and view the show from the summit. Supposed to be centered right over the sawtooth mountains with 2+ minutes.

First total eclipse on American soil since 1991!
First on the mainland since 1979!
First to sweep across the entire country since 1918!

Total Solar Eclipse of August 21, 2017!

You MUST be in the path shown below in order to see totality!
    Idaho
    Solar.jpg
On to Idaho, where Stanley and Mackay are the first recipients of lots of shadow. Idaho Falls is in the path, but south of the centerline - so it only basks in the umbra for 1m49s at 11:33am. Rexburg does much better, getting 2m17s at the same time.

The highest point in Idaho - Borah Peak - is in totality, and that might not be a bad place to be for the more adventurous types!

But that's it for Idaho - Boise and Pocatello are NOT in the path of totality! Do not stay home, and think you're getting a good show, because you're not! Get north, and get into the shadow! IN BOISE OR POCATELLO, the eclipse will never be total for you! You will need to use your eclipse glasses for the entire partial eclipse!

I'm for digging into a remote peak such as mentioned and hoping for good weather. All for something in line
