    Sewing Machince in cold.

This may sound like a odd question. Would like to set up a sewing machine in my garage. The garage is not heated. So it gets cold down there. Not freezing as the the garage in under the house but still pretty cold. Will the cold effect the machine at all? My wife says it will.

    Thanks
    Sam

You have oils in the machine that would get more vicious, I would think.

I wouldn't risk it. Things could go horribly wrong.

I have no idea if it is bad, but my only option for the last couple of years has been to sew in my unheated detached garage. I have been found sewing at 11:00 pm in my winter coat when it was in the teens. Have sewn numerous times when in the 20's.

House is small, so I really only have room in the garage. I could set it up in another room but I would have to put everything away everytime I use it. Leading to me not doing much sewing. In the garage I could keep everything out and ready to go.

How thick can they get? Is what I was originally wondering. They are fine oils.

I guess you could experiment by putting a bottle of sewing machine oil in the fridge or out in the garage.

I have similar issues with living in an apartment and having a 2 year old. I only work when he is sleeping, but the machine is too loud so I set up in garage.
