Cold temps in the UK

So, my first time in very cold overnight temperatures. Went to the Lake District which is only about an hour from me, and with the recent snow we've had promised to be beautiful with blue skies and (apparently) low winds. First night was very calm, and I didn't bother with a tarp as no snow was forecast, second night was a little more breezy, but again, didnt bother with the tarp, the air was so dry and no snow forecast. I figured the storm guard on the Clark (NX-250) would be fine. The lowest it got to in the night was 2 degrees fahrenheit. I'll put a list of my gear at the end of this, but I can honestly say I was warm all the time, totally comfortable (and I'm quite a cold sleeper generally)

clothes in the hammock: woolpower thermals, two pairs of merino socks, one thin, one thick, fjall raven sweater
hestra c-zone gloves
cashmere beanie

Was quite happy at midnight (about 8 degrees then), so watched "the godfather" on my ipod touch. great to wake up to silence and gorgeous weather, albeit pretty chilly!

What is a "Clar Z-liner"? It is an UQ?

Billy, its the Clark proprietary UQ thing - it has pockets underneath, and the z-liner is basically 14" square "envelopes" filled with synthetic insulation. I was a little concerned that it wouldnt be enough, but in fact, its fine. more than fine actually. And we have a lot of terrain like that in the UK. We're not a massive island, but there are quite a few National Parks, and Scotland has huge areas of mountains, and is far quieter, but with the weather the way it is right now, the crowds are absent from the English Lakes since the majority here have no clue how to drive in snowy conditions, and listen to our stupid, scaremongering media when they say "dont go anywhere unless its absolutely neccessary". It's a total joke actually.
