    buckle knot

Anyone have any tips/suggestions on which knot to use for an HH with the buckle shown in this photo:
    http://www.hammockforums.net/gallery...s&searchid=779

I will have a similar setup, but the hammock side will have a single line, and I won't be able to do a simple loop like in the photo. Thanks.

I believe that's angrysparrow's setup in the photo...and if I remember right, he used my prusik attachment idea. It's designed for a single line running to it. I've got instructional pix in my gallery if you want to try it.

There are a few options, but I would recommend doing it like is shown in BlackBishop's gallery if you only have one single line.

I have setup that uses a biner and CC buckle thing made from webbing. Check my gallery for pic.

I did use a similar prussik, but I used two lines together that are both tied on the hammock end in unison just like the original HH whipping knot.

The HH knot, and how to replace it, are illustrated nicely in GrizzlyAdams gallery: Pic1, Pic2, Pic3, Pic4. There, he also uses the double-cord method, but you could easily just use a single cord on the hammock end, and then use BB's method for the buckle end.

Wow, this forum is a wealth of knowledge. Thanks for all the good info on these buckle setups.

What is the recommended length of the tree huggers for this setup?

Between 10' and 15' seems to by 'typical'. Personally, I tend toward the longer length of 15' to accomodate more hanging options (longer distances between treees) but some don't like the extra weight.

I have about 12'. Make sure though your tarp lines are longer too. The first couple times you hang from a 20 foot distance, make sure you hang high. You will get a lot of stretch out of most straps. I dropped a good foot or 3.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?

If I used the prussic and fig 8 like in Angrysparrow's post with the original Hennessey spectra cord, would I ever be able to untie it?
