    Industrial machine Craigslist advice!

Hey all just came across this listing on Craigslist and was wondering what you all thought about it for $100? It's an industrial walking foot machine made by Nakajima branded for Rex. It is in pretty d cent condition I would have to take apart the things I know I can put back together and clean and oil it but it does run just fine I just met the guy selling it and I asked for tonight to decide. I do have a new singer 4423 I just bought but this industrial walking foot for $100 intrigued me, I thought hey I can clean her and fix her up and probably re-sell it for more? Looking for any and all advice! Thanks!

is he selling everything? Machine head, table and motor for $100? Seems like a steal. Other than that can't tell you much. It's a machine, just like the ad says.

Yes everything, and the same machine is going for $500-$800 online

Do you all think I can manage to clean and oil most of the machine myself or will I have to have it professionally serviced?

You may want to make sure the machine can handle the thinner threads used in hammock gear. Most upholstery machines are designed for much thicker threads.

You should be able to clean and lube. Blow it off with air hose and oil every thing that moves. Just a little oil goes a long way. A little grease on the gears. If it is in working condition, probably doesn't need much.

Well I won't be able to really test it out with different threads, the guy has another lady looking to buy it so. You don't think it'll handle Mara 50 and 70?

For a hundred bucks, buy it and find out. Will definitely be good for DIYing some straps etc. If it doesn't work out you could probably sell it at a profit.
    Good luck,

Do it. I want it and it's not even available to me. I would likely be able to use it even if not for hammock gear...
