Gossamer Gear pad is high-tech, quite light and packable, hence the price. OK for 2-season warmth by itself. Not stiff, but soft for its thickness and density. Comfy in a gathered-end, but won't flatten out a Ridgerunner
Yes, it is quite dense, no air bubbles. I guess I would compare it to the density and firmness of a supportive insole in an athletic shoe (only thicker).
I can send you a small scrap to look at if you would like to PM your address to me.
Whoops - just noticed that you are in France. shipping may be a problem (expensive?)

I initially bought it for a gathered end. I tapered the corners a little to better fit the shape of the hammock. Now that I am using a RR I wish it was still a full rectangle. Now I most often use an inflatable pad in the RR (more flatness). If I really want to save weight I will use the CCF. I also use a piece as a foot pad if I use a partial length UQ.
My full 1/4" pad (trimmed) weighs about 12 ounces. I usually roll it up and put it into my pack first - then let it unroll to expand to the shape of the pack - and then add all the other stuff.

Is the 12 oz 1/4 trimmed one 30" at its largest ? And what about the lenght ?
Seems very heavy to me, unless I am wrong somewhere in understanding your dimensions.
I have this 1/4" foam pad that is 6' x 20" and it weights 4,5 oz, that's about half the weight of yours :

My 1/4" would more correspond to your 1/8", in terms of weight, and hopefully insulation, I suppose !
I see gossamer shows the same weight as yours. Mine must be a very crappy one.
Can you use the 1/8" at all, or is it too floppy ?

I'm planning on trying out a cheap pool pad when things warm up. Going to give it a spin in my Amok also because that bad boy sleeps pretty hot for me. BTW, that must be a nice sized canoe for the gear you have, LOL. Another thing on my list is to try kayak camping this year, in a 10 footer though so I still need to try to pack light.
Rouskof - I have been trying to send you a PM but even though I have emptied my 'inbox' and 'sent' folders I keep getting a message that I have no room left to send or receive. I will try again later - maybe the computer or the site with 'refresh'...

I received your PM, thanks.
Instead of starting a new thread, thought I would just ask this here. Has anyone tried one of these S2S ultralight insulated pads in the large size in a ridgerunner?

Thinking of giving it a whirl.
