    Morrow Mountain state park nc

Looking for some current testimony about hanging in the morrow state Park. Anybody have suggestions or better recommendations. Taking some car campers, so we need to avoid primitive. Otherwise we would go to yates.

Anyone been there recently? How's the hanging situation? Best attractions?

Any help provided is greatly appreciated

It's a nice campground and park. Was there last year and hung with my wife. Plenty of trees in almost all sites and loops.

Top of Morrow mtn is scenic. Rode bikes to top - steep climb. Can also hike to top. There are hiking trails by lake and into woods that are nice too. Some very rocky and with tree roots, so careful hiking.

    Inexpensive canoe rentals.

I've only driven through car camping areas. Looks like many sites have trees. I have only hung at the primitive site. They have a pool and canoe rental. I can't remember when rental opens, but that section of river is nice. You have two Rivers to choose from for paddling.

    Hammock friendly
Bathhouses with showers--you should call them and ask if bathhouses are open this time of year
    Hiking trails
    Horse trails
And an old Doctors homestead with lots of great history written on placards at Doc's old home place.
Call ahead and find out if bathhouses open this time of year.
Oh I almost forgot--when the ticks hatch at Morrow Mountain if your clothing and skin is not treated you gonna be tick bit--these are the small tiny deer ticks in one of their early stages--and they are almost impossible to see--if you can see real good, you can see them at the base of a hair on your skin--they burrow down below the surface of your skin and you become tick food and might have any one of a dozen different tick diseases including Lyme disease. Morrow Mountain has lots of deer so there are lots of ticks. You can get ticks year round but you are most likely to get them when they hatch en mass in the spring and early summer.

    Thanks everybody for the input!

Phantom, I appreciate all of your posts and wish I could make it to the Yates hang. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for your future organized shindigs.

rpd2459, these car campers want bathhouses/showers in walking distance. I don't believe yates has that, am I correct?

    Yates does not have bathhouses
    Yates does not have water
    Yates does not have electric
Yates has a vault toilet in a block shed house.
Yates has lots of great spaced trees a few fire rings with grill tops and a few picnic tables.

I was at Uwharrie and plenty of hang time there. There was several of us who had hammocks and didn't have issues finding enough spots grouped together
