yes, you can come to the hang without having a hammock of your own- many people bring extras to show/lend/get advice about- I do not forsee any problem, unless you weigh more than 400 lbs...
( hmm, now I wonder; what is the highest wt ever hung? not the stated wt limit but actual trail/camp usage?)
