Yeah, sorry for the mishap Diesel but sounds like Mother Nature is helping you to decide. Sure wish we could have made this happen. Hey, but then again, if you and SwampFox (and anyone else) are up for it, we are still planning to do that overnighter the first weekend in Feb. Would like to meet both of you plus this will give me a chance to talk Jones Gap Trail with SwampFox.

    Think it over !

Just got back from the Mt Rogers hang and had a great time. I think it may take a week for my gear to dry out completely considering the wet cold air we are having now so it looks like our trip on the Foothills will be postponed for a few more weeks.

Such is life when dealing with Mother Nature . . .

Wow, if I can set some plans and dates in stone I might see you out there.
Which way did you plan on hiking?

I plan to go from Table Rock to Oconee. This will be my third time. The first time I did it in five days, the second time in four, this year I'm shooting for three. Well, maybe not... I posted a trip report for last year's hike. It would be great to see you out there. Which way did you plan on going, and when? My plan is to avoid the weekend crowd and start on a Monday morning.

I am going to hike the same direction you are. I have april 5-9th off and everything after may (junior in highschool). Don't know about doing it in 3 or 4 days. We are pretty athletic but this is our first multi day trip (i guess that is what it is called?) and I don't want to rush off the trail.

I'm not really that athletic, but I like to do a lot of miles when I'm by myself. I've met a lot of people who have hiked the Foothills Trail. Some say that seven days is murder and you should really take ten days, some say four or five days is a pretty good pace. I think three days is pushing my limits, but I want to have a go at it some time. If I have to stay out another night, I'll enjoy it and try again next year...

You can't do those 80 miles in 3 or 4 days and claim you're not athletic.
It would be a 9 day trip for me.
