Time is getting away. There really isn't much in the way of planning for this trip. I think we are just going to have a map with a few dots on it to hit.

Right now we get into Sydney on Friday the 12th. The plan so for is to stay in Sydney for a night or two to get used to the bikes and head south. A Hang out Sunday night would work best time wise. If not could swing late Saturday. Not sure how many people work on Monday.

Getting a hike and hang of some kind is a high priority for me. This will make continent number 3 in my goal to hike and hang in all of them in my DIY setup. The hike doesn't have to be far. Somewhere in the mountains south would be cool.

I'll let you guys pick the time and place.

Coffee, I don't know how many could do a Sunday night mini-hang. That would be tough for me.

    Here's an idea though...

Option 1: You guys lob into Sydney on the Friday, get some sleep, pick up bikes, etc. Then head 100km south on the Saturday. We do a quick overnighter that would see you back in Sydney by Sunday night - the place is like a 1.5hr ride from the Sydney airport.

Option 2: Bike/Car camping. I know a place in a state forest which would be great, especially if it's a hot day. You get to shake down your bike camping systems. If something doesn't work, you're still close to Kathmandu, Paddy Pallin and all the other real camping gear stores in Sydney so you can re-tool if necessary before heading to Melbourne.

Although it doesn't involve a hike to the location, Option 2 may be more attractive to some of the Aussie HFers who are short on time.

    What are your thoughts guys?

    Let's get it happening.

    What backtracking?

Saturday sounds like the best for me. If you guys want, plan a weekend and we can come on saturday. I have to buy the plan tickets from Perth to Sydney for the end of the trip. We can always push that back a day to see the city. Only a couple hours of driving the first day sounds like a good way to start the trip.
