hammock fan says in the video that there is a specific anchor for the RR. I assume he is refering to the "strap anchor", but is there no anchor to be used with Amsteel, like the "hammock anchor" that would hold properly the two dog bones of the RR ?

This is a plain ol' hammock anchor on a RR. I only set this up to take this photo to show what you could try. I sat in it for a minute or so to weight it and I didn't die, but I didn't spend the night either.
I did take notice of a few things while hooking it up.
- Watch that the anchor body is in line with the hanging amsteel (green here) before getting in the hammock. If it is rotated even just a little bit it will allow the dogbones to weight the anchor unevenly. It did not straighten itself out when weight was applied.
- When getting in the hammock, one edge gets weighted before the other which could rotate the anchor a bit.
- Not sure if it makes any difference here but please note that I have the amsteel's standing end exiting the rear of the anchor.
- It seems to be a bit cumbersome to hook up. You're simultaneously juggling 4 different pieces here. As with most things, it probably gets easier with practice.
- It is a super light and compact method, if it proves to be durable/reliable for this application.

The strap anchor is designed for the ridge runner. There is a YouTube video on it. Best part: it works with Kevlar 3.3

I think you are supposed to loop both dogbones through the center of the anchor, and not just hang them on the edges like you did. That would make it more stable I suppose if the anchor is big enough to hold both dogbones one on top of each other.
I know, I mention it in my first post. My problem with this system is that I want to get rid of the long bulky tree strap and use Amsteel instead.
What is the crucial advantage of Kevlar tree straps, btw, weight saving ?
Weight savings. Ahhh I reread your post and understand it now. The hammock anchor is going to have the same problems as it had before, just like the Dutch speedhooks. Kevlar is the closest thing to amsteel in weight hat is recommended to use.

The massive compression on the amsteel leeds to premature wear. They are awesome, but there is a reason they aren't more popular... Your amsteel could break at any time. I have owned both speed hooks and hammock anchors and they both showed excessive wear on the amsteel very quickly.
