Check to see if your spool thread hasn't fallen off the take-up lever.
If it has, then the thread going thru the needle will not get snugged up after it has gone around the bobbin underneath, resulting in birdsnests on the underside of your work.
I am wondering if the presser foot was down when you threaded the machine. That will also cause the heavy nesting that you have here.
I sew things on youtube.
I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.
Keep at it, things get easier with practice. You'll get used to how tension needs to be adjusted to get things right. Just remember the reward is an extremely affordable quilt set (even if it's on the heavier less compressible end as far as down goes). I got my doubled up setup down to 23 last week in northern AR.
Thanks for all the advice.
Not sure which one is the other one... LOL
1 is a brown / copper color.
1 is a navy blue.
Don't know if I will, since I bought a HG Phoenix UQ. LOL
Different type of material. Only sewed a few inches to see what it would look like. Maybe if I went further I would have ended up with the same mess. I did get 16" before the thread mess happened on my project. I was really happy and surprised how it was going till then. Not exactly straight, but didn't care. LOL
Just some Guttermann Mara 70 Tex 40 Thread I bought from Dutch.
It was up. Like I mentioned above, I did get 16" before it started. I was noticing the fabric not feeding properly when that happened.
I may try it again. I'm not good with failure...... I will succeed...... in frustrating myself...... destroying my mom's sewing machine...... LOL

I think I'm going to try sewing without folding the fabric and see what happens.
My Mom's sewing machine is a Singer. She almost never uses it. Said she thinks she got it in 1969.
NOPE. sewing is not for me.
My new under quilt I ordered yesterday is worth every penny! LOL
