    Dirty DIY Hammcok

    Hello forum members!

Recently returned from a beach hang in the Caribbean and the hammocks got a bit greasy from sunscreen. Any suggestions on washing? They are homemade out of ripstop with gathered whipped ends.

    Thanks

    Patrick

PS. Here is a pic of the hang.

Machine wash warm on gentle cycle and air dry and it should be as good as new.

Thanks TrailSlug! Is there any type or certain brand of detergent I should use?

I know a lot of people like super sensitive detergents like Drift (the one for babies) but I have used regular old Tide on my beater ENOs and never had an issue. I usually throw mind in a pillow case to protect it from the agitator.

Sport wash is what I use for all of my technical fabrics:

I put mine in a mesh laundry bag (it's about the same size as a white kitchen trash bag) and wash it on the gentle cycle with whatever laundry soap we have on hand (usually Purex). Hang to dry.
