I just remembered that I keep 3 lengths of some old cord, a small 'biner and my ProKnot cards in my work backpack for random knot tying practice (doesn't everyone?).

I figured it out. I didn't see before that I'd have to pass the entire guyline through the bend on the tie-out (d-ring) in order to make the larks head. Which sort of make these semi-permanent. For some odd reason I was thinking these guylines were the tie and un-tie type configuration like many others, but that's not the case.

You could always use a toggle instead of the larks head, that would enable you to attach on setup and detach on take-down.

    Good idea.

Though I don't need my guylines to come on/off easy (storage is the real problem with guylines). I just made an assumption that this guyline was one of that type and that assumption caused me to not understand the directions fully.

As TF mentioned, you can use a toggle, or a mini biner, S biner etc to attach.

I leave mine on my tarp and wrap them up figure 8 style and then stuff them along with the tarp. No problems with tangling etc.

Allright folks... This idea isnt original to me. I had read about someone elses idea, and even posted I would mock something up, but never did.

Through a brain fart on my end, after forgetting about the original idea, I claimed it as my own.

    Here is the original Idea

Single tarp line with a small loop in the end to go over the ground stake.
Small loop attached to the tarp d Rings with a prussic knot on the single tarp line.
As much adjustment as you could ever want from 2 or 3" to as long as your tarp line. Also easy to install a tarp tensioning system on the tarp line.
bazza, I messed up. My sincerest apologies.

    Yes, he is.

It's still a very, very neat solution.

Thanks to the both of you.

bazza also had an excellent idea for foul weather pitching that doesnt require you to remove the D-ring prusik.

Have 2 prusiks above the tubing. When you need a steep pitch, bypass the spliced loop and tubing and place the second prusik on your stake. This does take the tensioner out of the guy line, though. You could always adjust tension with your tarp ridgeline, however.
