    New Guy Line Introduction

OK folks... here is another idea fresh off the shelf. 1 of these has been in the hands of one of our tarp builders for about a week... and everything looks like its a go.

The No Knot Guy Line... with a prusik rather than a constrictor...

Imagine your tarp on the other end of that D-ring.

Once you receive them, just larks head the prusik loop onto your D-rings and thats it. Attach the sliced loop over your stake, while holding the prusik knot with one hand, use your other hand to pull the tail through the prusik to stretch the tensioner.

These are made using the 1.75mm line in Red, Yellow or Grey with a 1.75mm prusik in any of the available colors. They will be made using the silicone tubing. Standard length will be 8' fully extended.

There is a limit of safety inherent in the design. The 3 wrap prusik will slip at around 30 pounds of force. This should help eliminate torn tarps of you trip over your guy line.

Price is the same as the other version, $6.50 each in any color, shipped USPS First Class. I will also be offering a warranty on the tubing for 1 year. If it fails or tears I will send out all the materials you need to replace the tubing.

I have not added these to my site yet, so if anyone is interested, shoot me a PM.

Having a bit of experience with tarps myself, I really like this Opie!

Here's one you forgot to mention - with this version, you can re-tighten the line if necessary from under the safey (and might I add, dryness) of your tarp. It's all done right at the tie-out point (supposing your stake is still holding properly).

When the line is over 400lb strong, the built in "release valve" feature is a real plus as well. Keep that D-ring on the tarp where it belongs!

Also... If you have a non nylon tarp.. These will work without the tensioners. Unlike the Constrictor version that needs tension to stay locked.

I can build them either way. W/O the tensioner the price will be $5.50

EDIT: And the prusik will be a bit longer. The one pictured was just a test.

    I like the idea opie.

Are you using Zing-it to make the end eye possible? Other than for ease in creating the eye splice I'd think you could get by with just some 3mm polyester rope or something which the prusik could get more bite in.

    Its all Zing It.

Right now I believe the prusik bites enough to not have to worry about more bite. I like the idea that it will slip if to much tension is achieved. Also... You can add another wrap or two to the prusik if you want.

30 pounds is quite a bit of force. The Green Thera Band produces almost 10 pounds of force stretching 4 inches to 12.

Also.. the spliced ends is my thing... And even though Im not a gram weenie, others are. I think the weight penalty of 3mm cord over the 1.75 isnt worth it.

Complex projects (like the space shuttle) are truly amazing. But somehow for me, I'm always most impressed by those simple, unique, elegant, and easy-to-implement solutions that make you go "duh......why didn't I think of that."

Any you keep coming up with new elegant solutions!!!!

What a clever idea for the simple guy line. I love it! I'll probably pass on buying a set right now (in the interest of diminishing funds) but I'll bet I have a set before the year is over.

The road goes ever on and on Down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, And I must follow, if I can, Pursuing it with weary feet, Until it joins some larger way, Where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say.

I can't say it any better.

Very cool opie. Way to think outside the box.
