I am also in the sham-wow camp. I keep a small piece with my cookkit to keep the pots from rattling. A couple hard shakes, wipe down, stuff in skins, store on outside pocket of pack.

I guess I need to invest in some mesh skins. I have the original Hennessey snake skins. Speaking of using skins, my Superfly really likes to collect air when packing, and I'm left with a bubble between the skins. Anyone else have this problem?

Just a little, even with mesh. It all depends on how much you "help" the tarp as you pull. Rolling it a bit and stuffing it a bit while pulling the skin will reduce/eliminate the bubble.

I have snake skins but I'd like to have a long/skinny lightweight mesh sack - maybe 4 inch diameter by about 18 inch length so that I could strap it to the outside of my pack. I need about 15-18 inch length in order to be secured by the sleeping pad straps. Unfortunately, most mesh bags of that length are 2-3 times too wide and have excess volume. Anyone know where I could get my size?

I shake it roll it and put 2 loop shackle things around it and stuff it on the back pocket of my pack with my poncho and poop shovel.

I just shake mine off and put it in it's skin, then stuff it in the sack it came in and put it in my pack. From my experience with mesh skins they really don't aid in helping the tarp dry, since the tarp is folded over on its self multiple times, wich restricts the air flow.
By all means, let's argue about whether or not a hammock will hurt a tree. All the while ignoring the fact that there is an island of garbage the size of Texas floating in the Pacific ocean. Or how about the fact that over 75% of the world's nuclear reactors are leaking...

If you got time let it air dry, If you have to move on I use my MTN.GOAT skins and stow it on the outside of pack in the mesh pocket, and set it up at next spot. and repeat until at final destination or home (and I will let it air dry then) or when it is dry. If it is dry I skin it and stuff it into its sack and stow inside pack.
shaking the damp wetness off helps but I would only dry the inside if it need it for me to stay dry while under it.

I use mesh skins so I just shake it off as best I can, slide the skins over it, roll it like a fire hose and stuff in an outside pocket. I use a ULA Catalyst so the outside pockets are more than big enough to carry the tarp. When I get home it gets strung up in my spare room to dry.
