Here's a video of the Minnesota winter hang. There's a guy from Canada there using sheep skin in his Ridge Runner. Looks toasty!!

If you have a sheepskin and a hammock, just try it! And report back, please.

I have a sheepskin and tried using it in my hammock at home, but it was not warm enough for me, unfortunately.

when I motorcycled I had a sheepskin that I sat on while riding. I also used it for my hammock.

It was very comfortable for 3 season use. (Maine in September with 40's to 50's lows) I never winter camped.

I want to try brush tailed possum fur.
Their fur is hollow and very warm.
They are supposed to be related to polar bears but native of Australia and an introduced pest here in NZ.
I suspect that they are still not light enough for me while still in pelt form.
I will endeavour to get hold of a couple to try as a foot pad.
I won't be buying them though since trappers are getting NZ$40 per pelt or $112/kg plucked fur and I am cheeeeap!

How does the fur hold up to where? It was my understanding that hollow hair gets brittle and breaks easily, maybe fur is different..
