I got my exped 9 in today, inflated it and stuck it in the hammock. It has the internal pump system and pumped up fairly quickly. It seems kinda narrow though .... I just measured it, it's only 20" wide, dang it! I wanted the wide one, time to return it ...... or sell it. $139 plus shipping .....
the exped 9 dlx is $199 here:

You might try sleeping on the 20" one before you return it. The 7 is so thick that I can sleep on it w/o wings...might save you some weight if you can do the same. It's not luxuriously wide but it's still comfortable.

IMPOSSIBLE JUST TAKES LONGER
I've been wondering about how wider width inflatables like the 26" exped dlx do in pad pockets on the WBBB. Wider ccf pads I have used in other hammocks w/o pad pockets always crimped, especially around my shoulders.
I'm glad you guys like the DAM, I never could get over the first 10 min's of chill.
there's a few that have already chimed in using the dlx width and like it. I have plans to make my own extra wide dam someday, and soon even, if I can find the proper inflation valve. maybe all I have to do is add a pillow sized extension to my right shoulder? and when I'm on the ground I can use it as a pillow? hummm.........
btw. I had no troubles rolling up the exped 9 back up into the stuff sack. there was the last tube, below the internal pump that did not want to exit the air up past the pump so I had to squeeze it back down to the far end after unrolling it.
I hadn't noticed if I could use an external pump if needed at some point. these aren't screw in valves in the newer models.
hopefully I ordered the correct thing this time

I'll be returning the narrow 20" exped 9 on monday.

I discovered that moontrail is out of san antonio so it's only two days ups gnd shipping to my place, that was nice .......
and I'm sure glad I got the dlx width! those few inches are nice but ....
it's still tough staying on the pad. It does slide or fit loosely in the hammock and I find myself sometimes with the pad slid off behind me and actually find myself rolling downhill off of it onto just the hammock. If I set the pad just right it will stay in place mostly but .... it's not as comfortable as an uq. The built in pump works ok but I hadn't tried it while in the hammock. I've only set it up while on the ground and that could be a problem if it's wet, windy and nasty out. the valves haven't leaked like I've heard reports of in the older units and it does keep me warm, so far so good over all .....
The plan though with the dam is to use it if I know if I have to go to the ground, or it's gonna be pretty cold. Ok, I know you're gonna laugh at me about what I now consider chilly but I've gotten pretty used to the mild winters here on south padre island, tx, and it has been chilly the past couple of nights so I took advantage of that and slept out on the porch testing out my new gear. It's got down to 46, and 50ish ..... Tonight I'll have to try the dam/tent/wallcreeper bag in the backyard or on the porch and see how it does, then it's a trip onto the beach where it's gonna get used for real for a weekish or so. It's also got a river trip thru the desert of big bend coming up first, so it has to work there first. Of course everything north of me will be chillier, which can only be tested for real once I actually get there but I can good hopes that everything will be find.
Is anyone using the 20" wide down pad in the Speer SPE? If so, how cold would you go w/ the Exp. 7, 20" wide in the SPE versus the 20" wide Exped. 9. Do you supplement the down pads with anything other than the CCF wings?
Thanks
