    side entry vs. bottom

Posting in this forum because I am in want for a BB, but my question is really a general one. I have a Hennessey and I'm tiring of the bottom entry/exit. I'm curious about side-entry hammocks and what the differences might be regarding the tarp. Have seen the videos of people entering/exiting these hammocks without the tarp on top, but wondering what the issues are in terms of headroom, etc. when the tarp is on, specifically in cold weather or rain when you might want the tarp close. Obviously with the HH this wasn't an issue and could pull the tarp down as much as I wanted.

dakotaross, I think you're gonna like the side entry. I also have a superfly tarp which gives plenty of room and protection.

had you thought about putting the side zipper mod on your hen? and sewing up the bottom entry?

Yes, heard about that and its a thought, but for now its crowded out by the thought of a shiny, new hammock!

The novelty of the bottom entry got old quick for me with the Hennessys, but then I got the zipper mod done and,,, ended up with 2 more Hennessys, I really like them now..

Thanks! I couldn't have done it without you guys. Glad I found the forum! I think it has saved me from a few rookie mistakes I would have made. Although I'm sure I will still make a few wrong turns...that's just part of the fun.

If you get the #2 zipper mod for your Hennessy you leave your options open...entry from bottom or either side. Then hang your tarp as needed for the weather.

I have a modified HH and headroom hasn't been an issue for me in the rain. Though I do plan to get a bigger tarp. The standard one simply is not big enough.

I don't use it in cold weather ... so far.
