Winfield Scott is beautiful but the last time we went the dam was leaking and there wasn't a lake anymore. Hopefully that is repaired now. Go in June! The lightning bugs are phenomenal!
Cloudland Canyon is ok. I've only been once and there was a train that seemed to circle the park all night! I got very little sleep. And it's a little too popular. Dockery Lake is my top pick. Winfield Scott is #2. Another place to visit is Horsetrough Falls. Gorgeous waterfall and pretty secluded camping but I'm not sure about the hiking options and it's another one lane road going in but definitely worth it!
I have a trip planned to the Cedar Key area and looking for info on that area in July. Are any areas not hammock friendly? Any good area that I should look at hanging in? This is just a three - four day trip (and not camping) as my Wife and I, and possibly my Parents are looking at moving into that area a few years from now and "scouting" the area.

dweckster, if you plan to get out of FL during the summer time. Check out this hang coming up in June :-)

Anyone know of any hangs going on in the fall? Especially in the Tampa area. Coming back in August to start my next school semester
There's usually something planned for Citrus tract or Green Swamp areas a few times throughout the fall. Arbuckle is a good place we like to congregate as well.
I'd have to agree with others. My summer camping (when there is any), is always a kayak camping trip. I suggest a kayak trip down the Suwanee with stops along the way at river camps. Makes for a great trip and the camps are dispersed nicely for short paddle days leaving plenty of time for just hanging out. As a plus the screened cabins have ceiling fans in them to move the air a bit and the price is right too.
