Well, this is One thing that you and i agree on, I don't care if everyone calls me selfish or not, i dont think we need more people interested in hammocking and i sometimes cringe when i see a new list of first timers joining the forum.
I like it to stay a small group of us and we all know when too many cooks gather the soup will get spoiled, so to speak!..

Well...like it or not, you can't talk about government control of hammocks without talking about government.

But I'm sure this post is going to get deleted just as many of my previous posts have been. So, nevermind.

I hadn't realized how behind I had gotten in the technology until I read the article. What type of chain is everyone using to hang now? What is an typical chain based suspension?

Is that from the hammock to the tree or around the tree, or both? What do I use as a carabiner: a big nut and bolt through the links, those hooks made for Chain like they use on tow trucks, or an old padlock? I don't think a marlin spike will work on chain? Is Dutch making chain hooks from depleted uranium yet?

I prefer the strongest, most abrasive, and thinnest wire I can find. If I move around enough at night I can take home a log in the morning.
