Greetings. I'm a recent convert who literally just his first hammock and haven't even had a chance to set it up LOL. It's in the box at home and I'm trapped here at work.
I love the outdoors and being out in the woods. I try to spend as much time in the woods during hunting season as I can. I love to get in there with the bear dogs and try to stay with them and figure out what old blackie is gonna do next. I like to be the first one to the tree if I can. This leaves me in the bush for long periods of time and has left me there overnight a few times. Between that and a friend who got us into this survival camping thing, We have been getting into bushcrafting as a family and the issue of where to sleep is always a big one. A lot of our forest is made up of wet swampy stuff and it's not always practical to plan on a ground camp. It's possible to find dry pine ridges or at worst make a debri raft to sleep on. My primary interest recently has been in getting aquatinted with making tarp shelters. They offer so many options that they really are about the most versatile sleep system out there. but on our last and recent campout my back told me that recreational ground camping just wasn't for me anymore. LOL. My son has a hammock and after we set it up and I was jealous all weekend. For the last week I've been reading and watching the tube on all things hammocks. I want in. I think the family wants in. So we me be our own mini group hanging club soon. There's only 8 of us. LOL.
