''Ridge' normal in brand new Expedition zip

Is this how the fabric is supposed to be 'folded'? Had a difficult time getting comfortable yesterday when trying it out..
    I hung at a 25-30 degree angle
It's a sewn gathering as far as I can tell. Thanks

''Ridge' normal in brand new Expedition zip

It looks like the gathered end is curled inward in reverse of desired direction. I'm not familiar with this brand, can the gathered end be undone and redone so that it curls upward instead of down? If it did not have a built in bug net, you could flip hammock upside down.
Shug has a video about calf ridge pressure---and it is loaded with ideas on solving calf ridge.
Call and email the cottage vendor and they might help.
And there are several all star DIY hammock makers on Hammock Forums that can help.
And maybe PapaSmurf of DreamHammocks can solve this for you--or tell you how to solve it.
    Good luck!

Thanks, it's the Hennessy Hammocks Expedition asym zip - If that wasn't clear Its sewn so not able to open it up or redo it, and it's not just at the calf - the ridge is all across the hammock (you can feel it on the back).

I think something is wrong. Did you just get this hammock? I had one of those and did not have that "fan".

I'd do that and go back to the retailer, taking your hammock, and attempt an exchange. Also, check out the hammock beforehand (the intended exchange).

I've shot Hennessy an email, waiting for response - depending on their reply I'll contact my retailer (It's an online retailer). Thanks

It is not wrong. That's the way Hennessy folds all their hammocks. You can replicate it, if you like. I find it very comfortable, because it creates a kind of pocket for the head and feet.

The reason why your Expedition feels uncomfortable is likely because it's too short and too narrow for you. I only know one Hennessy model that doesn't feel tiny, even when you are coming from a fairly small hammock like the standard WBBB: the HH Safari. I own the Safari, and it's one of my most comfortable hammocks. I have had the opportunity to lie in a HH Explorer (I think) and a HH Deep Jungle XL, and I'm surprised that people can sleep in those. The original dimensions are not generous, but the main problem I think is how the net is cut and attached. It takes away quite a bit of width of a hammock that is already on the narrow side.

I was hoping you would weigh in with your two cents worth of knowledge and understanding. Your two cents is like a million bucks. Phantom guessed wrong--again.
    I just now looked at dimensions 120 x 59
You are spot on hutzelbein! That seems small to me.
I've been guessing wrong so much lately-------
I guess I'll have some coffee!

    Thanks hutzelbein!
