    Hi there ....

Welcome to the forum ... I too have been searching, searching, and searching for a hammock. I've looked at so many I confused myself, no not really. I believe that I have decided on the Warbonnet Blackbird, Just saving for the funds to spend on it.

I also have pretty much researched the tarps too. Right now I'm leaning towards the Speer Winter Tarp. Has everything that I would need in inclement weather and can be tied back in good weather, getting the best of both worlds.

Hey ; welcome to the forum. My only experience is with the WBBB. I choose it because many people here love it for the footbox , shelf and great workmanship and hey , he's a regular hammock guy doing really good work. And now i love it. I knew that i wanted to be able to throw the netting back when i felt like it without having to buy a hennessy and then get the zipper mod for side entry. Side entry is very nice. As for tarps , being in the tropics you'll want good coverage but not necessarily winter tarp type so you could go with a hex tarp from warbonnet guy or OES. Have a great trip and don't forget to send back pics and a trip report for us,,,please

the warbonnet blackbird from what i've heard everyone here talk about is great for taller people. the 1.7 double is better to keep mosquitoes from biting through the material. the double layer will let you put a little insulation between the two layers if needed. i like the design (shelf and footbox) , the price, and i'm a little partial to them being made by a fellow hammock forum guy.

but as you've already read people all love their different hammocks for their own reasons.
you really can't go wrong with any of those choices
