With the possibility of having a large group, you might want to avoid the ever popular Labor Day weekend. But, then, that's what a poll could be used for...

It was crazy eerie. That rock field was probably the size of a football field, and perfectly flat. And in the middle of the woods. And if you stomped, you could hear it reverberate, like it was hollow underneath. Did I mention it was a new moon that night?

I too thought of the thump of unexploded ordinance!, but figured acercanto had already considered the possibility. Rugged country indeed.

Well thank you sir. I see from your profile that we are closer neighbors than you likely imagined...I live in the other end of the county in the thriving megalopolis of Crawley.

As for my avatar, nah, she's way too busy chasing voles and ground squirrels to be much good for anything else exceptin' bein' my best friend and ever present partner...thus her moniker, Shadow...always underfoot but in a good way.

You know, carrying her water when we hike is getting a little old, you may have planted a seed.

I see your pup is an an accomplished backpacker.

Yes, I had same thought, but decided to put it in because it might be easier for people to take three days that way. If this is the weekend chosen, we would need to hike in somewhere the first night. The campground will be filled up way before we get there. Those sites go fast, esp. on holiday weekends.

It's a good possibility I could attend, but I'm unable to commit as of yet; however, the holiday weekend would be definitely not be a possibility.

NightEyes & I might be in. It all depends upon the dates choosen.

Somewhere around the dates discussed NightEyes & I will be doing our second annual Chesapeake Bay Catamaran Sailing & Hanging trip. If you have not used a very small sailboat to use as your campsite-to-campsite transportation, you don't know what you are missing. Pretty much, you end up at the beach/shore wherever the wind takes you.

I'm glad there's so much interest in this one. Picking dates is hard cuz it always leave someone out. We'll just have to put it to a vote, so I don't have guilt!
