I am in the 20 degree camp in response to the OPs inquiry. I just don't think when the temperature gets hot, the extra 10 degrees will matter that much as one will be venting at the same time with either. The only way I would buy a 3/4 UQ is if I was 4' 10". Personally, I don't get them; but, I know others like them and use them effectively. They just don't keep me warm. However, like the OP states, he can only afford one so the full length makes more sense, in my opinion.
FWIW,I like my 3/4 20 HG Phoenix. My cold weather UQ is a JRB Winter Nest, full length made for my HH Expedition.I go with that when the temp is forcast for freezing etc.So far the 3/4 length has not been a problem for me even though I sleep on the cold side because I put a piece of reflectix in the dl pocket of the WBBB and heavy socks and all has been good to date.
I went with 20 degree Arrowhead Jarbridge and I use a Therm-a-Rest under blanket when it dips close to the limit. I have been toasty warm every night down near 20 degrees. I have used the same UQ for warmer temps and just varied my TQ setup and it has worked great. When it gets toasty at night, I will just drop the UQ for the airflow. I would recommend the 20 degree 3/4 no problem. Oh, and snag a couple quilt hangers, they are cheap and help keep the UQ right where it needs to be. Cheers!
