How does Amsteel hold up long term?

Well, Ive been carrying this little whoopie key chain on my work keys for 3 months now. 10 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. Its seen the floor of a muddy work truck, the bottom of a trench dug in trash, rain, sun, snow....

While the glossy sheen has worn off, it still grips, adjusts and the fixed eye still holds perfectly.

I dont imagine anyone is going to subject their Whoopie Slings or UCR to what Ive put this through..... I think long term they will last..well... a long time.

Yeah - I wear a Buck neck knife 24/7 on a dyneema loop.

Have for 2 or 3 years.

The dyneema doesn't exactly look brand new, but it looks like it can last longer than I will.

I was initially concerned because the Buck sheath is hard plastic and the holes the dyneema thread through have sharp edges. The edges don't seem to have abraded the dyneema in the time I've been wearing it.

4 7/8" long in sheath. The blade is 4 3/8".

When I'm wearing it, nobody knows. Well, my GF does.

Only neck knife I have used for more than 1 week. The knob inserts into the handle hole and keeps the knife secure. Every friction sheath I have used for neck knives will hold for a few hours and then I have a loose knife inside my shirt . Not this one. Unfortunately Buck dumped this sheath and now the knife comes with a friction sheath - BIG mistake for a neck knife.

I have one of those and it came with the stupid friction sheath. Like you said wont wear it around my neck, doesn't feel safe. I like the looks of the sheath yours came with. Wish they still made those.

I know 1/8 dyneema is supposed to support up to 2500 lbs, but I am scared to try it. Dont know how durable it would be holding my big butt up night after night.

All I've got is a crappy cell phone pic, but here's a pic of one of our whoopie slings that we use up in the tree to hang a rigging pulley off of.

The rope is 5/8" Amsteel, it's seriously fuzzed up and full of sawdust, and we routinely drop big chunks of wood with it, like 500lbs. big, and it's not slipped once. Just thought y'all might get a kick out of that.

Ive got a set of the 2mm dyanglide on one of my DIY hammocks right now.

There is a member here hanging off a set of my 7/64 slings. He weighs 400 pounds.

I was skeptical at first too.
