    AZ/Sedona/June

Hope I'm posting this in the right place.... I'm relatively new to AZ and have some friends coming out in June for an overnight backpack trip. My challenge is where to go within a couple of hours from Tempe that would be a bit cooler is both hammock and tent friendly and has a decent water source. I'm thinking Sedona area but am overwhelmed by the number of trails there. Does anyone have a recommendation for a 12 to 15 mile loop?

Going up north around Payson has some great options. The elevation and tree coverage should also drop the heat a bit too. I've been working my way through the Highline trail which you can make some good loops through.

I should be able to go the first week of June if you're interested in a weekend trip and want to get a group together.

That'd be great! The wife and I are doing some camping at the Grand Canyon the first week of June though. i know it'd be short notice but I could go next weekend.

I won't be back in AZ until the 31st and not sure how long I'll be home this time. If you post a trip up I'm always down to join if I'm home.

I'd really like to explore the trails near Payson and it'd be nice to meet some folks since we just moved out here are few months ago. The next month or so is pretty hectic but should be able to carve out a weekend sometime in July.

If you come to Payson look me up. I live there and know the area well. I hammock camp up here year round.

Sedona has great hiking, but camping can be tricky because they do not allow it on most of the popular trails. Plus it's hot in June and shade can be hard to come by. If you like to mountain bike, Sedona is world class.

We haven't set a date yet but I'm open to any weekend in July.

Awesome! Let's get something on the calendar for July. getting Fridays off can be tough but a Sat/Sun trip is always possible.

The Cabin Loop is a nice loop hike. Plenty of trees I'm just not sure about the reliability of the springs for water as it gets later in summer. If I recall it was roughly 18-20 mile loop about 35-40 minutes north of Payson area.
