    In house supports

Okay, I need to be able to hang a hammock in the guest room....
I mean I really NEED to
Okay, maybe I just WANT to.
Anyway, it's not a very large room so I was just thinking of going corner to corner across the room. I'm pretty sure the construction is just the typical 2X4 every 16" or so with drywall on top. Are there typically studs in the corners?
If so can I just bolt into those with a 2X4 and use an eye bolt to hang from ?

    Thanks
    Scott

if you still have questions after reading those threads then ask away.
just remember that you've got to be sure you've really got a hold of something that can take that kind of pulling.
and if you can manage a way to do it, it is handy to have two up-rights that you can tie to. that way you can play around w/ different heights & sags & stuff like that.
and be sure to give your self enough distance to experiment w/ longer hammocks if you can.
there are links to pictures of my bed room in one of the threads that head change gave (also in my gallery). ...tim

Without reading the threads posted above, I'll tell you from personal experience that it is not wise. I slept that way for about a week and it was fine as long as I was attached at points directly across from each other. When I got my ENO it required more distance and since I couldn't move the walls, I tied off the hammock to studs that were not straight across. The additional stress was immediatly obvious as things hanging on the other side of the wall I was tied to started falling off and I could hear wood splintering . Out of the hammock and straight to the Home Depot to buy materials for a stand. About $30 later, no problem.

Corner studs are definitely better. I would put two eyebolts per corner, one on each side of it, to help distribute the load.

That said, my friend just had his mom move in with him for a while, so bought himself a stand (the metal kind like you get at ****'s). He's been sleeping in it for weeks now and loves it. It's cool to be able to hang right off the wall and not have to worry about a stand, but it's something to think about because you can put it anywhere.
