Just wait when it's pouring rain, and you are bone dry, and your fellow tent campers are not.

I'd rather be hanging.
No kidding on the rain. Five of us spent a week in the boundary waters in hammocks. Rained every single day. One day very severe storm, my crocs floated away from underneath my tarp but I was high and dry. Easily the worst storm I have camped in. I really am starting to feel bad for those who sleep on the ground.
One huge newbie mistake, A symmetrical tarps leave very little room for error and severe blowing rain. That will be replaced with another hanger tarp for my kid.
The first step to solving the problem is admitting that you have a problem. And for that, you have done well! Now you just have to convince all your camping buddies to join you between the trees. That way, you won't have to worry about being the last one to wake up.
Also, great pick with the Raven! I've had mine about 4 months now, and couldn't be happier!
