I was often hunting down branches or rocks I could move to get a little more height. I have a SRL on my hammock but I found that having more sag than the typical recommendation helped also.

I found everything about a gathered-end hammock comfortable in general, so a little more support for my back should make all the difference.
I'm only 5'4". I feel your pain. Had exactly this problem Sat night, but nothing to help boost my height at all. Our srl's were pulled pretty darned tight as a result.

A pad in the hammock might hold your upper body flatter.
    I sew things on youtube.
I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.

Shame I didn't see this earlier, I would have made you a GE in some 1.6oz HyperD and sent it to your mom (as a thank you).

Way too heavy, but it was what got me interested in hammocks in the first place.

Maybe the material will be the one difference that matters. But have you experimented with things like a pillow under your neck and under your knees? There are so many little things that can make a difference.

A pillow would exacerbate the issue since the stretchier hammock is causing my back to curl in just the wrong way (just like if I was hunched over a keyboard). A pillow would cause my back to curl further. And putting something under my knees wouldn't affect my upper back necessarily...lower back, maybe, where I have nerve issues when laying flat on hard ground. I will give the latter a try if changing the firmness of the material doesn't help; I'm pretty sure a flatter lay will help a lot.

Small pillow under your neck, not head. Makes it seem like a flatter lay since your head can then bend back instead of forward. Works for me anyway.
