Keeping the Incubator in place on a WB Blackbird...

I am using an Incubator with a WB Blackbird (for now...I intend to switch to a different hammock shortly).

I struggle with keeping the foot end of the Incubator up and over my feet. The BB has both a foot box and storage shelf on the 'back side' which probably add to the challenge. I have the secondary suspension set so the Incubator is pulled asymmetrically.. longer on the footbox and at the left shoulder. I am using the Dutch quilt hangers at each end instead of the stock HD biners and I hang it from the suspension, just in front of the CL's.

Dutch has the quilt hooks that get sewn on the hammock side that certainly can help since the Incubator has the d-rings sewn in. Bringing the primary suspension line up to the hammock ridge line seems like a better idea and the Dutch quilt hooks can work in that fashion as well. I also have tine biners that I can thread onto the primary suspension for this purpose.

For those of you who are using your Incubator with a Blackbird, what steps have or do you take to assure the UQ stays in place at the foot end?
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

Usually happena when youre end channel is cinched too tight. Loosen the right foot side a good bit. Loosen the right side of the end channel that "U"s around the end. Those dont need to be as tight as everyone makes them.

    I use the same setup.

Exactly what Slo said. I see hangers with this so tight that the hammock wants to flop out of the channel. I believe enough people have issues with this is one of the driving reasons behind the wookie. This makes setting up the under quilt on a gathered end hammock as easy as it is on a bridge hammock which is as easy as it gets because it snaps to the four corners on a bridge and never moves.

    Thanks.. will try..

Funny that as I looked at it this morning I thought....hmmm maybe I have the end cinched so tight it's just popping out.

Will report back after I try.

    Cool

If you find this causes some gap, tighten suspension nice and good.

Most cinch the end too tihght and the suspension not tight enough.

    Following.

I am probably guilty of having the primary too loose and the secondary too tight. My thought was I didn't want to feel the primary suspension under my legs in the foot box, so made it a little loose. The secondary is likely cinched almost as tight as possible..

Yes. It is the UQ suspension not the hammock. I use the BB hammock and Incubator and have no issues.
