Use this address in Google Maps as your destiation:

Cheaha State Park, Lineville, Alabama 36266, 36266 (Cheaha State Park)

The trailhead will be on your right about 4 miles after Adams Gap on 281 (Talledega Scenic Hwy) or about 3 miles on you left after Cheaha State Park. There is a paved parking lot for about 10 cars and should be a sign for Turnipseed Camp and a trail crossing sign for the Chinnabee Silent Trail.

OK, is Adams Gap where the Adams Gap Road hits 281 coming out of Lineville? Zooming in on Google there is a parking lot where these 2 roads intersect. It looks like 281 (or Talladega Scenic Hwy) becomes dirt road continuing south. Is this in the neighborhood?

Yes that is Adams Gap. The parking lot is Adams Gap parking. Continue on 281 approx 4 miles to the Turnipseed Camp parking on your right.

I would love to join you guys, but Ive got to work that weekend. Have a great time! The Pinhoti trail is one of my favorite trails---I go there 3-4 times a year. Have you seen the website? go to "pinhoti trail alliance"---there is a massive amount of info there. There is a link on the website to an excellent mile by mile guide to the Pinhoti. (if you are going by Mcdill point, dont forget to check out the airplane wreck!) The Pinhoti is full of all sorts of neat things, mine shafts, airplane wrecks, prehistoric rock houses, cliffs, rivers, water falls and all the solitude a guy could want--especially if you go in the middle of the week. ------Have a great time!
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

Whoa! I really should check this forum more often!! And SouthMark, you should have called me and told me about this!!

I actually have plans on being in this area that very weekend, now I have to decide on who to camp with!!

As for the trail guide... I find that its not really needed for the Pinhoti.

(and this is hush-hush! New maps are in production for the entire trail!!)

SouthMark, I'll get with you on info for thru-ing. Its been almost 3 years since I did, but Ive been on most sections since, so I hope any info I have will be helpful...

Hey Cuffs, sure wish you could join us. We could use an experienced guide.

Join us at Pinky's this weekend for a little trail work. We are putting up new signs at road crossings, trail intersections, shelters, etc. About 39 signs I think.
